Officers from the Yorktown Police Department were dispatched to Crompond Road shortly before 4:15 p.m. on April 26, where there was a report of a crash, where a driver left the scene after causing property damage.

Police said the investigation into the crash determined that one of the drivers involved in the crash was a Sunny Ridge Road resident in Yorktown. Officers responded to the location and tracked the driver - later identified as 39-year-old Irene Gribbon - on Sunny Ridge Road, and a traffic stop was initiated by officers.

According to police, it is alleged that Gribbon was driving while intoxicated and refused to submit to a breathalyzer during the stop. When officers attempted to arrest her, Gribbon allegedly resisted arrest and officers were forced to put her in the back of the patrol vehicle.

While in the vehicle, it is alleged that Gribbon caused minor damage to the car while being transported to Yorktown Police Headquarters for processing.

Gribbon was charged with misdemeanor counts of driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest and attempted criminal mischief. She was also cited for leaving the scene of an accident and refusal to take a breath test, both traffic infractions.

Following arraignment, Gribbon was remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bond or $15,000 cash bail. She is due back in Yorktown Justice Court on Thursday, May 3 to answer the charges.
